Mezzo Soprano Patrizia Patelmo has impressed audiences around the world with her fiery interpretations of Azucena and Amneris. Her voice is strong and powerful, yet full of many vocal shadings. She is truly a force of nature with her wonderful and intriguing interpretations of the roles she portrays.

Ms. Patelmo has received great critical acclaim in the Bregenz Festival’s production of Il Trovatore, this past summer. She performed over 9 performances of the fiery Gypsy in 2005 and 4 performances in 2006. The press stated:

She is no stranger to this Gypsy having performed it with the Deutch Oper of Berlin, Heidenheim Opernfestspiele and Connecticut Opera. Another role that is a favorite of hers is Amneris in Aida. She has performed this role with the Connecticut Opera, Portsmouth, National Auditorium Madrid and Heidenheim Opernfestspiele; in this opernfestspiele she maked one’s debut the role of Eboli in “Don Carlos”. She has performed the role of Ulrica in “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Florida Grand Opera, at the Teatro Regio di Parma, at the Palafenice di Venice, at Metz Opera Teatre and at the Colon di Bogotà. She has performed the role of Frugola in Milan with Maestro Chailly.

Ms. Patelmo has performed at the famed Zurich Opera the role of Fidalma in “Il Matrimonio Segreto” with great success. She is no stranger to German opera having performed her first Ortrud in “Lohengrin” at the Teatro Regio di Parma. Other additional appearances were as Margarita in “I Quattro Rusteghi” at the famed Teatro Donizetti, Beppe in “L’Amico Fritz” at the Teatro Coccia di Novara, The Witch in “Haensel und Gretel” at the Teatro Regio di Torino and Sara in Roberto Devereux.

A very important accomplishment was a recording for Editoriale Pantheon of the Verdi Messa di Requiem with Ms. Patelmo as the Mezzo Soprano solist and the famed Orchestra Sinfonica della Fondazione Arturo Toscanini under Maestro Gandolfi with the Coro del Teatro Regio di Parma featuring singers Antonello Palombi, as tenor soloist and, So-Eun Jean Serenelli, Soprano, and, Un-Boung Ro as Basso.
